About Us
My former wife was diagnosed with MS in
April
2008. As
part of our research, we discovered that keeping a daily journal of
symptoms was highly recommended to monitor progress. However, I noticed this
was a difficult and
tedious endeavor using a paper journal. I also felt that it would became
increasingly difficult to write daily long hand entries in a journal, or
even type the identical entries on a computer. And trying to
communicate
several months’ worth of this information to
a neurologist during a scheduled
visit could be a problem due to
the short amount of time available during the appointment.
As a
computer professional with several years experience supporting medical
transcription and electronic medical records software,
I created a database application that
would enable her to track
her symptoms much more easily.
After over a year of development, I was able to
design a program that allowed her to point and click to make most entries. Actual typing was minimal.
In the program, I included numerous report options
that gave the opportunity to take information and put it into a
usable format to give to a neurologist. All the
information was based on
paper journals. I was able to include all the information
about the symptoms she experienced,
their severity, location
and the activity associated with
the symptom.
When I first started developing this program,
my goal was to help make this part of her life with MS less of a struggle.
After more research, I thought that others with MS and similar chronic
diseases could benefit from this type of symptom tracking. That is what
has led me to developing a version that I could offer to the public at
a reasonable cost. I am very excited about how this program can
help others.
